MS says this is a design decision and not subject to change, so as of now the client can no longer send larger docs to Office 365 recipients. Messages sent to GMAIL and other sites are still kind of slow but the ACK responses are much faster (<100ms max, usually faster) and there's no timeout. The VMS MTA does not log the 421 error (we see it in the packet trace but not in even full debug SMTP logs) it just shows the connection timing out. So the current situation takes many minutes to send a 6-8MB file and somewhere in that range, takes too long to send and Office 365 sends a 421 error and drops the connection. If it did then the very slow ACK times would not matter. They state the problem is the VMS MTA doesn't provide the (I believe RFC optional) chunk size options and start sending the data in larger chunks. The issue seems to be that Office 365 is both very slow acknowledging a received SMTP record (one line of the file, text ot uuencoded) at 250-300ms (per our firewall running packet traces), and enforces a 10 minute connection lifetime for any inbound SMTP connection. So far other services are not so affected. Even the current V5.7 eco 5 (or 4) are having problems sending large emails to recipients on microsoft Office 365. In those one-on-one contests, Hardaway switched hands between dribbles, went between his legs, left his confused defender stuck to the floor, blew by him and dunked. So, after the workout, me and another player stuck around and played a little to stay sharp.” “We just ran sprints and did defensive drills,” Hardaway recalled. Haskins put the team through a two-hour workout once the wheels hit the runway back in El Paso. Haskins - who coached the school formerly known as Texas Western to the historic 1966 championship over all-white Kentucky, inspiring the film “Glory Road” - was raging after UTEP suffered a season-opening 29-point loss to Washington in Hardaway’s first college game. Raised on Chicago basketball, where the meek are left standing when sides are chosen in pickup games, Hardaway made his way to Texas-El Paso for college. He made five All-Star and All-NBA teams and won a gold medal with the 2000 U.S. ![]() He was a showman for the Golden State Warriors for six seasons, then a leather-tough cornerstone in Miami with the hardscrabble Heat for six more. Hardaway was a quick-reflex defender, directed his teams with unflinching leadership and served as a primary scoring option in an age where point guards were pass-first. Even his knuckleball jump shot was efficiently workable. That was the extent of his limitations, though. Because, just maybe, if those delinquents had gotten away with it, who knows, we might’ve been deprived of ever seeing one of the most devastating dribbles known to man, of seeing the most entertaining trio in basketball - Run-TMC y’all - and of seeing a point guard stare into the camera during a 1990s Nike commercial shoot and utter three ad-libbed words that captured his essence: Take a look at some of Tim Hardaway's top moves and killer crossovers!Īnd so, for a player who delivered 7,095 assists in his NBA lifetime, this was the greatest assist given to him. And those kids never stood a chance against a determined woman, who must have had the foresight to know what the basketball would someday mean to her son. Gwen Hardaway gave chase, up the street, ‘round the corner, down the alley, scraping her legs in the process, blood dripping, blood boiling. A kid in these parts knows not to leave his bike alone for a minute, and the same street law applied for a ball so shiny and new that it still had all its pebbles. Hardaway, however, was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, a famously edgy hood of hard-working people like the Hardaways, and unfortunately a few crooks as well. So, he sat on it, like a hen does her eggs.Ī lifetime bond was formed and nothing seemed purer. His father bought him a Wilson for Christmas, his very first ball, and the young boy - or “Tim Bug” as he was known - was too small to dribble it. It was never easy to swipe the basketball from the master of the crossover dribble, a weapon he popularized and introduced to the mainstream and used to change the game forever. When you reverse the lens, the opposite happens, and the image is magnified to near life-size. In standard photography, a 50mm lens focuses the light from far away, making the image smaller so it can be captured by a digital sensor. The reverse lens technique works because of the way a 50mm prime lens operates. ![]() Reversing rings are widely available wherever camera accessories are sold, for less than the cost of a pizza. If you have a steady hand you can “free lens,” or simply hold the lens against the camera to shoot if you want more stability or a more permanent setup, you can purchase a specially made threaded adaptor called a reversing ring, which holds the reversed lens to the camera. The reverse lens technique is exactly what it sounds like: you remove your 50mm lens from the camera and turn it around so that the front side of the lens, which usually faces the subject, is facing the camera. If you own a 50mm fixed focal length or “prime” lens, you have the basics of a macro photography setup. Starting with the most affordable options, here are some ideas for making your DSLR camera a macro machine. You can use the lenses you already have, you can add equipment that expands the capability of your existing lenses, or you can buy dedicated lenses that are made specifically for macro photography.Īll of them work and they can all produce excellent images, so the choice depends on your budget, your level of experience, and the quality of images that you need to produce. If you have a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera, your macro photography options increase exponentially. Photo by graemeandginbooyahīutterfly shot with a point-and-shoot on macro setting Option #2: DSLR Cameras It’s a no-cost way of finding out whether macro photography is for you, and you’ll get some great shots along the way. It can give you the chance to explore the possibilities of recording very small and detailed subjects without making any investment in equipment or mastering new techniques. If you’re just starting to consider branching into macro photography, a point-and-shoot camera in macro mode can be an excellent way to begin. The upside of this is that it’s a no-cost, no-hassle way to take outstanding macro and close-up photographs, requiring absolutely zero investment in additional equipment the downside is that the photos won’t have the same level of precision, detail, magnification, and quality as those shot with a DSLR camera and a dedicated macro lens. In a point-and-shoot digital camera, choosing the macro mode makes the lens elements automatically adjust for close focusing. Option #1: Point-and-Shoot Digital Cameras The overwhelming majority of digital cameras, from point-and-shoot models to DSLRs, have a selectable macro mode that can be accessed either via an external control or through the viewfinder menu. If you own a digital camera, you can actually start doing macro photography with no additional equipment whatsoever. Like many aspects of digital imaging, macro photography can be as simple and affordable or as complexicated and expensive as you care to make it. The Equipment You Need For Macro Photography Even the tiny hairs on the leaf are visible. The main difference in the images produced is the degree of magnification and the degree of fine detail that can be captured.Ī close-up photograph with a non-macro lens will make small subjects larger, but a macro lens will dramatically increase the degree of magnification and make even the most minuscule details visible. Photo by graemeandginbooyahĪirborne seed pod shot with a DSLR camera with a 60mm macro lensĬlose-up photography is similar to macro photography in that it makes small objects look large, but it’s done by photographing objects at a very close range with a standard, non-macro lens. ![]() True macro photography is done using a dedicated macro (for Canon products) or micro (for Nikon products) lens, which has the capability of achieving at least a 1:1 magnification. The terms macro and micro are both commonly used in this aspect of photography, and though the literal meanings are opposite (micro means small and macro means large), they both refer to the same thing: making a small object look big. Once impractical for many because it required a substantial investment in equipment, macro photography is now accessible to everyone who owns a DSLR or even a digital point-and-shoot camera. Macro photography, or taking larger-than-life-size pictures of very small subjects, is a fascinating, absorbing branch of photography through which you can explore the details of the world around you (and come up with some fantastic images in the process).
